Childbirth classes provide the benefit of a deeper understanding of the physical and emotional processes of labor, birth, and early postpartum. Knowledge truly is power. When you understand what is happening, you can plan accordingly (including planning for the unplanned!) and ask the appropriate questions to assist your birth team in providing better care for you and your baby.
Childbirth education is often overlooked in our fast-paced society. It can be difficult for the modern parent to fit even one class into a busy schedule, let alone a whole series! With that fact in mind, Summer Birth Services offers a wide range of options for you to pick from.
Full Series Group Class $200
This series is taught in four weekly sessions of two hours, in a group setting with other parents. We cover the topics listed below, as well as any additional topics that naturally come up during the course. The benefits of this class series are the ability to learn from and network with other expectant families, and the time to digest each week’s topics for optimal understanding. This class has a maximum of 5 registrants (the pregnant person and any chosen partner, if applicable, count as 1 registrant).
Comfort Measures in Birth $75
This is a single day, three-hour crash course in birth. In this workshop, the basics of labor will be covered and the focus will be in practicing hands-on skills for the labor room. The benefits of this workshop are the ability to learn from and network with other expectant families, hands-on practice, and minimal time requirement for busy people. This workshop is optimal for persons who have previously given birth, as the pace is much faster than other class options. This workshop has a maximum of 5 registrants.
