Summer is a passionate advocate of many different things, but her main calling is assisting families during the childbearing years. She feels that all families deserve the right to bring their children into this world in their own way, and she helps you achieve this goal by providing evidence-based information, comprehensive education, and unconditional support. Each family has different needs and wants that affect how, when, and where the birth will happen. Her role is to serve in a way that encourages both pregnant person and family to make the best decisions for them, and to support them in a professional, judgment-free manner.
Her journey to serving birthing families began during her teenage years, when her mother chose to have her younger brothers at home with a midwife. Although it would be several years before she could put a name to that light, she believes the flame of service was lit at that very moment. With time, that flame has grown stronger and pushed her to pursue multiple avenues of being with woman. These avenues have included training with ToLabor (formerly ALACE), Hypnobabies®, and ProDoula as a birth doula, IPPA as a placenta encapsulation specialist, Stillbirthday as a birth and bereavement doula; becoming a La Leche League Leader and many hours of continuing education each year.
It is an honor to be invited into a family for such an intimate event, to bear witness to a baby being born, a family finding their strength, digging deeper than they ever knew they could. This honor is one that Summer does not take lightly. It comes with a fierce love and deep devotion to the families she serves, as well as a continuous pursuit of information, education and experiences in order to provide high quality services.
Nicole’s background and education sets her apart by giving her a unique skill set to work with both mother and child. Nicole has spent the last year providing speech, language, swallow and feeding therapy in the clinical setting. She is excited to expand her services to the private and home settings as a Lactation Counselor, focusing on assisting families in establishing and/or maintaining a healthy breastfeeding relationship.
After experiencing the struggles and triumphs from breastfeeding her own children, which included significant latch difficulties due to a tongue and lip tie, she developed a strong passion for supporting women during their breastfeeding relationships, especially those experiencing difficulties.
Certified Labor Doula (ProDoula)
Cara became passionate about supporting families during their birth journey after witnessing the positive role a doula had on the comfort and overall well-being at the birth of her cousin’s son. Although she’s been helping families in her residential house keeping business for many years, she decided in 2015 that it was time to train as a doula and received her certification in 2016.
Cara knows the uplifting importance of feeling heard, being understood, and encouraged to trust one’s own instincts. She knows that for many families, the birth of their child is one of the most memorable moments in life, and she is dedicated to helping create the best memories possible, regardless of the challenges that may arise.
Through non-judgmental, unconditional emotional and physical support, Cara seeks to help parents find their voice before, during, and after the birth. Cara is truly honored to support and serve growing families during these life-changing events.
